AI-Games (“we”, “us”) built the game Neon Run (“the game”, Android app com.Neon_Run). This policy explains, in plain language, what the game does and does not do with your information.
The short version
- No ads, no in-app purchases, and no account or sign-up is needed to play.
- We do not collect, store or sell your personal information, and there is no Neon Run server holding player data.
- Your settings and best scores stay on your phone.
- With Online music switched on, the game streams songs from Jamendo, so your phone connects to Jamendo’s servers.
- If you choose to use the leaderboard, Google Play Games handles your sign-in and score.
What is stored on your device
The game saves the following locally on your phone so it can remember your progress:
- your best scores and run statistics;
- your settings (sound, volume, traffic level, controls, online music on/off);
- which tutorial pages you have already seen.
This information is not transmitted to us. You can erase it at any time with Reset Saved Data in Settings, or by uninstalling the game. If Android’s app backup is turned on for your device, Google may include this small amount of data in your own device backup; that is controlled by your Google account and Android settings, not by us.
Online music (Jamendo)
Besides the songs built into the game, the radio can stream free, Creative Commons-licensed tracks from Jamendo, a third-party music service.
- What happens: when the game starts with an internet connection and Online music (data) is on, it asks Jamendo for a list of cyberpunk / synthwave tracks and then streams the song you are listening to.
- What Jamendo can see: like any website or app you connect to, Jamendo receives your device’s IP address and standard technical request information. The game does not send your name, email, advertising ID, location or any other personal information to Jamendo.
- No downloads: songs are streamed and are not saved to your phone for offline use.
- Credits: the artist and title of the playing track are shown in the radio, and Settings shows the credit with a link to the track’s Jamendo page.
- Data use: streaming uses mobile data if you are not on Wi-Fi. Switch Online music (data) off in Settings and the game uses only the songs built into it and makes no requests to Jamendo.
- Jamendo’s own handling of data is described in the Jamendo Privacy Policy.
Update check
When the game opens with an internet connection, it downloads one very small file (neonrun-version.json) from our website to find out whether your installed version is still supported. Nothing about you or your device is sent beyond what any website request contains (such as your IP address), and the game keeps working normally if you are offline. If a newer version is required, the game asks you to update from Google Play.
Google Play Games (leaderboard)
The game can show a leaderboard through Google Play Games Services. Using it is optional and works only if you sign in with Google Play Games.
- When you sign in and finish a run, your score is sent to Google Play Games together with your Play Games player profile (player ID, display name and avatar, which Google may show to other players on the leaderboard).
- This is processed by Google under the Google Privacy Policy. We do not receive your Google account details.
- If you do not sign in, no score is sent anywhere. You can manage or delete Play Games data from your Google account settings.
Information collected by Google Play and Android
If you install Neon Run from Google Play, Google may collect anonymous technical data such as crash reports and installation statistics, and makes aggregated versions available to developers in the Play Console. This is done by Google under its own policies, not by code in the game.
What the game does not do
- No advertising and no ad or analytics SDKs.
- No in-app purchases.
- No accounts, and no collection of email addresses or phone numbers.
- No access to your contacts, photos, camera, microphone or location.
- No selling or sharing of personal information.
Permissions
| Permission | Why |
INTERNET | To stream music from Jamendo, to check whether an update is required, and to talk to Google Play Games for the leaderboard. |
Children
The game is suitable for all ages. It contains no ads, no purchases and no social features apart from the optional Google Play Games leaderboard, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Google Play Games sign-in is subject to Google’s own age requirements.
Your choices
- Turn Online music off in Settings to stop all Jamendo requests.
- Do not sign in to Google Play Games to keep your scores off the leaderboard.
- Use Reset Saved Data or uninstall the game to remove everything stored on your device.
Third-party content
The game’s built-in music is by Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio, used under his free licence. Streamed tracks are by the artists credited in the game and are provided through Jamendo.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and, where the change is significant, note it in the game’s release notes.
